What started out as a leaking corner shower unit with an acrylic base in a Carterton proved to be much more. The original shower installation had not been done correctly as there was no seal between the shower base upstand and the shower liner. This led to a slow water leak that went undetected under the shower and the vinyl floor. Necessitating a floor replacement and a new shower it could have been avoided with regular maintenance checks around the shower base (checking for softness – which is a sign water is getting in somewhere). There is more information in Article 2 – A Common Shower Problem in the Wairarapa.
